An Interactive Public Artwork
in Saint Petersberg Russia
For the Art Prospect Public Art Festival in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Linda Hesh had local student assistants ask people passing by on the street if they would like to pose for a portrait wearing buttons designed by an american artist. They could arrange the buttons any way they liked for combinations of the words Art Creates Life. Even though Ms. Hesh only knew one word of Russian (thank-you) 267people were eager to participate over a span of seven hours. Their openess was exciting and instructive in the power of art as a communicator across borders.
